North Ockendon Carpet Cleaners Service Terms and Conditions
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which North Ockendon Carpet Cleaners provides domestic and commercial cleaning services. By making a booking, the customer agrees to be bound by these terms, which apply to all carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, rug cleaning, stain treatment, and related services supplied by the company. For the purposes of these terms, references to we, us, and our mean North Ockendon Carpet Cleaners, while references to you and your mean the person or business receiving the service.
These terms are intended to create a clear agreement between the customer and the provider. They explain how bookings are accepted, how payments are processed, when cancellations may apply, what responsibilities each party holds, and how issues are handled. They also include important information about liability, waste handling, and the law that governs the contract. If any part of these terms is found to be unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
We may update these terms from time to time to reflect changes in our services, legal requirements, or operating procedures. The version in force at the time your booking is confirmed will apply to that booking unless a later change is required by law. It is your responsibility to review the terms before confirming a booking. Continued use of our services after any update will be treated as acceptance of the revised terms.
Booking Process
Bookings may be made by telephone, email, online form, or any other booking method we make available. A booking request does not constitute acceptance until we have confirmed the appointment and any relevant details. Confirmation may be given verbally, in writing, or electronically. We reserve the right to decline or reschedule a booking where access, equipment requirements, safety concerns, or other practical considerations make performance of the service unreasonable or impossible.
When making a booking for carpet cleaners in North Ockendon or a similar service, you must provide accurate and complete information, including the property address, the nature of the items to be cleaned, known stains or damage, access restrictions, parking limitations, and any relevant health or safety concerns. If the details supplied are inaccurate or incomplete, the final service may need to be amended, delayed, or charged at an adjusted rate. Any quotation given before inspection is based on the information available at the time and may change if the actual conditions differ materially.
Unless otherwise stated, appointments are scheduled for arrival within a reasonable time window rather than at a fixed minute. Traffic, weather, equipment issues, and earlier jobs may affect arrival times. We will use reasonable efforts to attend within the agreed period, but we do not guarantee exact timing. If the customer is not available or access cannot be gained, we may treat the appointment as a missed visit and charge accordingly if our team has already attended the site.
Service Conditions and Customer Responsibilities
Before the service begins, you must ensure that the area to be cleaned is reasonably accessible and safe to work in. This includes removing fragile items, valuables, and obstructions from the working area where possible. We are not responsible for moving heavy furniture, electrical goods, or items that could cause damage if moved, unless this has been expressly agreed in advance. Where furniture is moved at your request, this will be done at your risk unless damage is caused by our negligence.
You must tell us in advance about any special circumstances that could affect the service, including weakened carpet backing, loose dye, existing wear, water sensitivity, pest issues, hidden defects, or recent treatment by another contractor. Professional carpet cleaning services often involve moisture, heat, pressure, and cleaning agents, so some materials require additional care or may not be suitable for standard treatment. We may refuse to proceed with any item that appears too delicate, unsafe, or likely to suffer damage even when reasonable care is used.
We will use reasonable skill and care in providing the service. However, you acknowledge that some marks, odours, or contamination may not be fully removable, particularly where staining is old, set in, or has damaged the fibre, backing, or underlay. Pre-existing wear, shading, pile reversal, colour loss, and similar conditions are not defects in our service. Where specialist treatment is requested or recommended, it may be subject to separate pricing and separate terms.
Payments and Charges
Prices may be quoted as fixed fees, minimum call-out charges, room-based rates, item-based rates, or a combination of these methods. Any quotation is valid only for the period stated in it, or, if no period is stated, for a reasonable time. We may revise a quote if the job changes, the property conditions differ from the description given, or additional items are added on site. All prices are stated in pounds sterling unless otherwise agreed.
Payment is due in accordance with the terms stated at the time of booking or completion. We may require a deposit, partial advance payment, card preauthorisation, or full payment before or after the service. Unless agreed otherwise, payment must be made immediately upon completion. We accept only the methods indicated at booking or on the invoice. If payment is not received on time, we may charge reasonable recovery costs, administration fees, and statutory interest where permitted by law.
Where a customer is a business, payment must be made strictly in accordance with the invoice terms. We may suspend further work, cancel future appointments, or withhold non-essential follow-up services until overdue amounts are settled. Any discounts, promotional offers, or package rates are personal to the booking and may be withdrawn if the service is altered or if the customer breaches these terms. North Ockendon carpet cleaners may also charge extra for parking, congestion, urgent attendance, out-of-hours service, or additional labour where these were not included in the original quotation.
Cancellations, Amendments, and Reattendance
A customer may cancel or reschedule an appointment by giving reasonable notice. Unless a different arrangement has been confirmed in writing, cancellations made with less than 24 hours’ notice may incur a fee to cover reserved time, travel preparation, and lost availability. If we have already arrived at the property, or if work is prevented by lack of access, unsafe conditions, or incorrect information, the booking may still be charged in full or in part.
We may cancel or reschedule a booking where staff illness, vehicle breakdown, severe weather, unsafe access, emergency circumstances, or equipment failure makes attendance impractical. Where this happens, we will seek to offer a new appointment as soon as reasonably possible. We do not accept liability for indirect losses arising from a rescheduled visit, provided the delay is due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control. If you require work to be completed by a specific deadline, this must be communicated at the time of booking and accepted by us in writing.
If a complaint is raised concerning the result of the service, you must notify us within a reasonable period after completion. We may request photographs, relevant details, and an opportunity to inspect the area or item before any remedy is considered. Where we agree that a re-clean or partial corrective visit is appropriate, this will normally be the primary remedy, provided the issue is attributable to our workmanship and not to factors outside our control.
Liability and Limitations
We will exercise reasonable care and skill in delivering professional carpet cleaner services, but we are not liable for loss or damage arising from circumstances beyond our control, including hidden defects, unsuitable materials, pre-existing deterioration, incorrect product use by the customer, or failure to follow our aftercare advice. You are responsible for disclosing conditions that may affect the result. Where items are already damaged, fragile, or poorly maintained, the risk of further deterioration may be higher, even when reasonable care is taken.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded under English law. Subject to that, our total liability in connection with any one booking will be limited to the amount paid or payable for the relevant service, except where a higher limit is required by law. We are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of opportunity, or other indirect or consequential loss.
Any claim for damage must be supported by clear evidence and reported promptly. You must take reasonable steps to minimise loss, including preventing further use of affected items where appropriate. If we attend to address a problem and find that the issue was caused by pre-existing conditions, misuse, or a third party, we may charge for the additional visit. Our liability does not extend to items left in the cleaning area unless loss or damage is directly caused by our negligence.
Waste Regulations and Environmental Compliance
We operate in accordance with applicable waste, environmental, and disposal requirements. During carpet cleaning and related services, waste may include dirty water, used cloths, packaging, removed debris, and contaminated material. Such waste will be handled responsibly and disposed of, treated, or recycled where appropriate in line with applicable law and good industry practice. We do not knowingly discharge waste in a manner that would breach environmental controls or local drainage restrictions.
Where waste is created by the customer’s property or materials, you remain responsible for disclosing any hazardous substances or special disposal requirements. This includes mould contamination, bodily fluids, chemical residues, sharp objects, pest-related contamination, or other regulated materials. We may refuse to handle hazardous waste unless specifically agreed and lawfully permissible. If we are required to take additional precautions, use specialist equipment, or engage compliant disposal routes, any resulting cost may be added to the invoice.
We expect customers to provide safe and lawful conditions for the service. You must not request us to dispose of regulated waste in a way that would breach environmental or safety law. If we believe a request could create an unlawful or unsafe disposal issue, we may refuse to proceed. Our commitment is to provide carpet cleaning in North Ockendon and surrounding areas in a way that remains consistent with relevant environmental obligations and proper professional standards.
Customer Data, Access, and Property Care
Any personal data provided in connection with a booking will be used only for legitimate business purposes such as managing appointments, issuing invoices, maintaining service records, and resolving queries. We will process information in accordance with applicable data protection law. You should ensure that any data you provide is accurate and kept up to date. We may retain records for a reasonable period for accounting, legal, and operational purposes.
You are responsible for ensuring lawful access to the property and for confirming that any person granting access has authority to do so. If a key, code, or access instruction is provided, you remain responsible for its accuracy and security unless we have agreed otherwise in writing. We will take reasonable care while on site, but we cannot guarantee the condition of pre-existing fixtures, fittings, or fragile items that may be affected by age or instability.
We may photograph areas before and after the service for operational records, quality control, or evidence of condition, provided this is done lawfully and without unnecessary intrusion. Any such images will be handled responsibly and retained only for legitimate business purposes. Where consent is required for particular uses, we will obtain it in advance. By booking a service, you confirm that you have authority to permit access to the areas and items to be cleaned.
Governing Law and General Provisions
These Terms and Conditions, and any dispute or claim arising from them or their subject matter, are governed by the law of England and Wales. The parties agree that the courts of England and Wales will have exclusive jurisdiction, except where the customer’s legal rights require otherwise. If a dispute cannot be resolved amicably, either party may pursue the matter through the appropriate legal process.
No waiver by us of any breach or failure to enforce any provision shall be treated as a waiver of any future breach. Headings are included for convenience only and do not affect interpretation. A person who is not a party to the contract has no rights under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999 to enforce any term of this agreement, except where such rights are expressly stated in writing.
These terms represent the entire agreement between the parties regarding the relevant booking, subject to any written variation agreed by both sides. If there is any conflict between these terms and a written quotation or invoice term, the more specific written term will apply to the extent of the inconsistency. By proceeding with a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these conditions governing the supply of our cleaning services.
